Zielgruppe: The war-affected population in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Approximately 1,000 people/month are provided for through the supply points and with relief supplies. The focus is on IDPs, people with disabilities, low-income and large families and other vulnerable groups.

In view of the ongoing war, the people of Ukraine are facing multiple challenges. The power supply throughout the country has deteriorated dramatically, with all regions of the country facing daily power cuts lasting several hours. In addition, there are gaps in the water supply and the general economic situation continues to deteriorate and is further exacerbated by ongoing flight and displacement. In winter, the general situation worsens further: problems with the electricity and water supply are compounded by heating failures. In the supply points, people can charge their devices/mobile phones during power cuts, get warm water (e.g. for preparing baby food) and are supplied with food, hygiene and care products. The points are also used as initial reception points for Internally displaced persons (IDPs) and are equipped with sleeping areas for this purpose. They also have a mobile field kitchen, oven and fan heater as well as basic medical care and PSS.

How ASB helps in Ukraine

Stationary supply points in the Obolon district of Kyiv

The stationary supply points are places to go for the war-affected population in case of power outages, cold, need for food, hygiene products or care products, basic medical care or PSS. Newly arrived IDPs are taken in and cared for until alternative accommodation has been found. People whose homes are no longer habitable after air raids or cannot be heated for a longer period of time are also temporarily accommodated. In winter, the supply points are also operated as warming points again.

Mobile supply points in the Obolon district of Kyiv

In the event of air strikes, the SSU is immediately on site at the damaged residential buildings (in Kyiv and the outskirts of the city) in order to provide immediate aid to the people affected with the help of mobile supply points: psychological first aid, provision of food, hot drinks and NFIs (depending on needs: blankets, clothing, material to close smashed windows, etc.). For this purpose, the SSU has procured a specially equipped trailer (with water tank, loading space for relief supplies, washbasin and sink, solar system, battery station and folding roof for the mobile distribution point).

Distribution of relief goods in Kyiv and the outskirts of the city

In addition to the operation of supply points, relief goods - food, baby food, hygiene articles / NFIs (winterization) - will be procured and distributed to war-affected and vulnerable population groups.
