Helping people in Haiti | ASB Foreign Aid
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, marked by violent conflicts and natural disasters. Earthquakes, economic instability and a deteriorating security situation are determining the everyday lives of the inhabitants of this small island nation. The already extremely complex crisis in the country has further intensified since the cholera outbreak at the beginning of October 2022. Living conditions in parts of the country are catastrophic. Almost half of all Haitians are unable to obtain adequate food supplies. At the same time, less and less international aid is arriving in Haiti. People are on their own. This makes it all the more important to better prepare the population for disasters and to raise awareness regarding dealing with the associated consequences.

To address these growing humanitarian needs, our project aims to ensure inclusive WASH capacities that account for climate and environmental risks. The project focuses on securing universal WASH access, strengthening local disaster preparedness and response, and promoting green humanitarian approaches. Our goals include climate-sensitive WASH services, enhanced local capacities, widespread adoption of green humanitarian principles, and improved disaster management knowledge and practices.
